Expo is the React Native framework I adopted in 2025 for mobile development, primarily for building The Morning Page. It was my first experience with mobile app development.
Adoption
I started using Expo in April 2025 for Memoize. I combined it with the T3 stack: “Trying to build the mobile for the first time for @memoizeco. Just one day and could already make a lot of progress. @expo is just amazing! And mixing it with @theo’s t3 stack it’s just amazing.”
I was particularly impressed by Expo DOM components, which let me run web code (like the Tiptap editor) on mobile: “Expo Dom components are really great, you don’t even know this is the Tiptap web editor on mobile” (22 likes, August 2025).
Experience
In August 2025, I attempted to build an entire app in 2 days using Expo and Expo Launch: “What if I built an entire app in 2 days using @expo and Expo Launch? Let’s try.”
I encountered a humorous bug trying to open Expo settings on an Expo device (17 likes, March 2026).
I asked whether Mac and Windows support would come to Expo, suggesting interest in expanding beyond mobile.
